DT@thebarn’s methodology emphasizes improving movement, creating better function, improving performance, and providing a pathway for pain relief. Ultimately, eliminating the obstacles that stop us from accomplishing our fitness and life goals.

With Olympic and professional level experience, and the science behind our classes, training and our bodywork, it made sense that we would have Andy Burke share his expertise by teaching an ELDOA class.

 

What is ELDOA?

 

(Longitudinal Osteoarticular Decoaptation Stretches, is taken from the French Etirements Longitudinaux avec Decoaptation Osteo-Articulaire)

 

The basic principle at work during an ELDOA consists of creating a position that will target a specific functional unit.  The inferior segment is fixed while the superior segment is mobilized.  The position is created to place all inferior and superior myofascial chains under tension. Simply, a system of improving Spinal function, flexibility and mobility, that impacts your whole body.

 

Many pains, arthrosis, neurological pinching, disc compression and articular lesions result from compactions, compressions and/or articular blocks. As an effective solution to these ailments, ELDOA’s consist of very precise postures which target relief in a specific articulation. The advantage of these postures is that once you learn them, they take only a minute a day to perform. For over 35 years Guy Voyer, DO has perfected ELDOA with the continuing goal to hone treatments that deco-op and add more fluidity to the joints. Cortico-corporeal awareness is crucial in order to maintain precision of these tensions, which combined with active diaphragm and passive cranio-pelvic breathing, will generate the targeted osteo-articular decoaptation.

 

I’m delighted to announce that we are adding an ELDOA class, a system of improving Spine function, flexibility and mobility using the myofascial chain.

Andy, a Sports Performance Therapist, Doctor of Osteopathy and certified ELDOA instructor, will teach a 1 hour class/workshop every Monday 9:30am. Maximum of 8 participants per class starting January 2018.

 

Who is this class for? Everyone wanting to move better and dramatically reduce the risk of injury.

(Andy worked for British Athletics in the build up to the London 2012 Olympics.
